Rocktet (2016) - 11'
Rocktet (noun) - a musical composition for eight musicians that makes you want to get up and start dancing. This is my second Rocktet of which I plan to have four for various versions of the octet. This Rocktet uses the configuration achieved by Igor Stravinsky. As a bassoonist I absolutley love this ensemble. Within the octet there are great combinations that can be achieved and I take it a step further here by adding piccolo, alto flute, e-flat clarinet, contrabassoon, and piccolo trumpet. Like many of my pieces it is exhilarating yet challenging for each musician. There are five movements I. Rock - II. Fantasy - III. Fast and Furious - IV. Elegy - V. Finale. Each movement is drenched in satire all culminating in a huge “nana-nana-booboo” moment.
